Games, 9/11/06

Today is September 11th, 2001. Five years ago today, crazed terrorists led by Osama Bin Laden killed 2,973 fathers, mothers, husbands, wives and children. As Americans we unite in sympathy for the lost and their families, and pray that evil man and his helpers will be stopped before the next anniversary.

I finished "The Amateur's Mind". Playing with a plan is great! Today, I won two games based on minor gains--doubled pawns in one, a single pawn advantage in the other.

On CTS I'm focusing on accuracy to keep up with a friend.

Win: Hyronimous(1433)-likesforests(1472)

1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5 3. Nc3 Qa5 4. d4 Nf6 5. Bd2 Bg4 6. Nf3 Qb6 7. Bb5+ c6 8. Bc4 Bxf3 9. gxf3 Qxd4 10. Qe2 Nbd7 11. O-O-O Qe5 12. Be3 O-O-O 13. f4 Qh5 14. f3 e6 15. Bxa7 Bc5 16. Bxc5 Nxc5 17. Rxd8+ Rxd8 18. Rd1 Rxd1+ 19. Kxd1 Qf5 20. Qe3 Ncd7 21. Ne4 Kc7 22. c3 Nh5 23. Qd4 Qxf4 24. Qd3 Qxh2 25. b4 Qg1+ 26. Kc2 Qg2+ 27. Kb3 Nhf6 28. b5 Nxe4 29. fxe4 Nb6 30. bxc6 Nxc4 31. Qxc4 bxc6 32. e5 Qd5 33. Qxd5 cxd5 34. a4 h5 35. a5 Kb7 36. Kb4 h4 37. Kb5 h3 38. a6+ Ka7 39. c4 dxc4 40. Kxc4 h2 41. Kb5 h1=Q 42. Ka5 Qd5+ 43. Ka4 Kxa6 44. Kb4 Qc6 45. Kb3 Kb5 46. Ka3 Qc3+ 47. Ka2 Kc4 48. Kb1 Qd2 49. Ka1 Kb3 50. Kb1 Qb2# 0-1

29...Nb6? 30.bxc6 Nxc4?? 31.Qd7? was a poor tactical sequence. 29...Nc5+ would win immediately. 30...Nxc4?? was inaccurate because 31.Qd7+! allowed White to draw the game.

Win: likesforests(1485)-Ghostmoves(1498)

1. c4 e5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. Nf3 e4 4. Ng5 e3 5. dxe3 Ng4 6. Nf3 Be7 7. h3 Nf6 8. g3 d6 9. Bg2 Be6 10. b3 Qd7 11. Nd4 Nc6 12. Nxe6 Qxe6 13. Nd5 Nxd5 14. cxd5 Qf6 15. Bb2 Qxb2 16. dxc6 O-O 17. cxb7 Rab8 18. I tend to get careless when I'm winning. My conversion of the passed pawn was sloppy, and 33.f4 would have saved my f-pawn.
