Games, 9/18/06

14 H1. In a sudden death time control, a player with two minutes or less of remaining time may stop the clock and ask the director to declare the game a draw on the grounds that the player has insufficient losing chances.   -- USCF Rulebook

Both of my opponents played 1.c4 c5, which is new line for me. It seems like a more positional approach to the English.

Loss: likesforests(1485)-Fugly(1333)

1. c4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. g3 g6 5. Bg2 Bg7 6. O-O e5 7. d3 O-O 8. Nd5 d6 9. Rb1 Nxd5 10. cxd5 Nd4 11. e3 Nxf3+ 12. Qxf3 Qf6 13. Qxf6 Bxf6 14. e4 Be7 15. Bh6 Re8 16. b4 b6 17. bxc5 Ba6 18. I wasted 90+ seconds plugging a power cable into my laptop. My opponent refused to adjourn--and I lost by about 30 seconds.

Win: likesforests(1484)-CraigMorgan(1601)

1. c4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Nc3 g6 4. d4 cxd4 5. Nxd4 Bg7 6. Nxc6 bxc6 7. g3 Nf6 8. Bg2 Ba6 9. b3 O-O 10. Bb2 Rb8 11. Ne4 Nxe4 12. Bxg7 Kxg7 13. Bxe4 Qa5+ 14. Kf1 Qc7 15. h4 h5 16. Rg1 Qe5 17. Bd3 d5 18. 11.Ne4 was unsound and could have been refuted by 12...Qa5+. My opponent later goofed with 20...Bxc4 and I found the refutation.

hello like. sorry to hear of mishap on power on notebook at key moment... me? the phone always rings when i have twelve seconds left in an increment game.

you are #147 at 85.0% to my #155 at 84.7%. not bad for an old clunker at 19,980 tries.

...i fell again tonight, and just dreaded hitting the big 20k at <1500.00 so had to fight like hell to get back... definitely tomorrow i will warm up on lots of practice, as to write a post at 1499.99 would be a terrible shame for me, after weeks mostly up there...

a stressful close one tonight... but a new day tomorrow. fyi, i am not doing CT-ART3.0 daily, to warm up, then a little CTS, then back to CT-Art, then back to CTS again.

it will be this way for awhile.

yasser sent me an article just now from his desk in amsterdam, a few minutes ago called:

"Senator Dorgan to the Cheney/Halliburton Pentagon: Nobody Seems to Give a Damn."

who is more corrupt, the bush cheney world or fide???? hard to choose! dk

Hey Like Forests,

Heard about you blog from DK and well, just wanted to pop by and check it out. Will be back to read more. By the way. Is there a way to paste in text from games, like on your page, into fritz or something similar to be able to watch it on the computer?

Transformation, didn't I tell you that Beta is the best. ;)

Samurai, thanks for stopping by! The games are in PGN format so you should be able to cut + paste them into your favorite chess interface like Fritz, Arena, Chesspad, etc.

I experimented with creating a Java board so you could play through them on the web--but it made the pages load slowly.
